This is a vintage unused "Light & Music" decanter by Luigi Bormioli, an Italian glassware company.
This decanter is part of the "Light & Music" series, which was produced from 1968 to 1979.
The decanter is made of clear crystal glass and features a stopper along with 4 glasses.
Key features of the Luigi Bormioli "Light & Music" decanter include:
Function:
While decanting wine can alter its flavor through oxidation, decanting spirits like whiskey is primarily for aesthetic purposes. Decanters enhance the presentation of the liquor and protect it from light and air, though the flavor change is minimal compared to wine.
Material: It is made of high-quality blown crystal, which is lead-free.
Origin: The decanter was manufactured in Italy.
Care: Luigi Bormioli glassware is dishwasher safe, but it is recommended to wash it with a gentle, non-abrasive detergent and dry it with a lint-free cloth.
Luigi Bormioli is known for its high-quality glassware, which is often compared to fine crystal but is more affordable. The company's products are made in Italy, with some items being produced by skilled artisans in other countries. The "Light & Music" decanter is a popular item among collectors and is considered a beautiful and functional piece of barware.
Found this tucked away in my mother's home. Must have been a wedding gift, was never used. They were in their original boxes, but the boxes were ripped and dusty so I put them in new boxes. There is a slight scratch on the decanter top, please see pics.
