This 1968 Faema Masi Team bicycle was made by the famous builder to the stars: Giuseppe Pelá. The frame and fork are identical to the ones he made for Eddy Merckx’s famous Tour de France and Giro d’Italia winning bikes. He famously equipped the entire Faema Faemino Team with frames.
This Pelà frame perfectly illustrates the austere elegance of his work. The Columbus SL frame set is jointed into meticulously filled lugs and shows the distinctive signs of the master: the four cut outs under the BB shell and the slots with a point in the middle on the fork crown. The frame has been refurbished and painted with 2K Urethane and clear coat. The bike is equipped with era correct Campagnolo Nuovo Record groupset. This is an iconic bike for bicycle history aficionados.
Giuseppe Pelà, though he is widely unknown, was one of the greatest Italian frame builders of the second half of the 20th century. He built bikes for Champions like Anquetil, Van Looy, Merckx, Moser, and many others. He was also responsible for some of the finest bikes from Gios, Masi, Benotto, and Picchio.
