This 1970 Ford Mustang Convertible, restored and modified 14 years ago, was transformed from a standard model with a 302 engine and light blue paint to a restomod with a Cobra Jet-spec 351 engine, Candy Apple Red paint, a Traction Lok differential, and more. The car has been driven regularly since its restoration and shows a few paint touch-ups and other minor signs of wear, but is said to be in very good condition with no known issues.
The engine is a non-original 351-cu.in. Cleveland OHV V8, with a block featuring four-bolt main caps.
It has 351C-4V quench-chamber heads, as well as an “RV” camshaft and completing valvetrain parts.
A Cobra Jet-spec Holley 735-cfm carburetor is mounted on an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold.
During the build, "everything in the fuel system, from the fuel pump to the fuel tank," was replaced.
The cooling system features a high-capacity aluminum radiator.
There’s also a 2.5-inch dual-exhaust system.
The builder paid close attention to authentic underhood details, including clamps, hoses, and more.
A C-4 three-speed automatic transmission is paired with the engine.
It channels power to a Traction Lok-equipped (limited-slip) rear axle fitted with 3.40 gears.
During the restoration, the exterior color was changed to Candy Apple Red.
The finish is said to be in very good condition, with a few noted touch-ups.
A 1969-style Mach 1 hood with a Shaker hood scoop was installed.
Mach 1 hood graphics were added, along with a front spoiler and a Shelby-style decorative roll bar.
There’s also a 1971 rivet-style gas cap.
The black folding top is power-operated and has a glass rear window.
The car has a Deluxe woodgrain interior with wood button high-back bucket seats.
Features include several reported-prototype Shelby parts, such as the steering wheel and shift knob.
There are also other Shelby trim components in the interior, as well as a console-mounted gauge pod.
No issues are reported with the suspension, steering, or braking systems.
The brake system is said to have been upgraded and is correct for a 351-equipped car.
Wheels and tires include 15-inch Magnum 500 wheels paired with BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires.
The wheels are finished with tall-style Boss center caps.
