1966 Fintail 230* Rare Automatic, in excellent running and driving condition.

This is the desirable 6 cylinder twin carb model in the single headlight W110 series body. It is also a rare automatic version too, most were manuals.

Lots of great patina and some unusual original water slide transfer decals, original Mercedes documents and some cool travel pennants that were sleeping in the glove box.

I drove this Fintail just under 1000 miles in the same day from Oregon to SoCal to attend the LA Cars and Coffee. The car drove well in the extreme heat and the temp gauge didn't miss a beat, even over the Grapevine.

Nice 100%, original interior.

From 1966:

- original headliner, has some loss on the C pillars
- original seats and good padding with no broken parts or bad seat frames. quite comfortable
- original floor mats, all 4 in Excellent condition, not reproductions
- original door panels and door tops too

Doors and ignition all work and are with the same original key.

Original accessory period seat belts.

Body has some dents and the paint is flat. Could be polished up but looks cool to me, just left as is.
This is one of those classic Mercedes that from the outside looks just ok, but lots of time, effort and money has been spent on how it drives.

Lots of recent mechanical work has been done:

- entire rear subframe was removed. painted, re-bushed and re-installed with replaced axles too
- fully serviced and working perfectly, automatic transmission
- new tires
- new battery
- replaced on of the two original carbs
- replaced soft flexible fuel lines as well as the line from the tank to the carbs
- removed and cleaned the fuel tank
- new engine mounts
- recent service with oil change and fuel filter change
- valve adjustment
- replaced brakes
- dash has a crack and the speaker cover comes with the car, there just isnt one in the photo
- recently found an original working radio ( $600) and is installed but needs a center-dash speaker
- restored gauges.
- Fuel gauge works
- Oil temp gauge works
- Speedometer works with the fun thermometer-style center indicator
- Oil Pressure gauge works
- Gear selector gauge works
- New battery
- Recently replaced the battery ground cable, and cleaned and greased all the wire terminals on the starter.
- replaced brake booster and flushed brake lines with replaced master cylinder too
- all the glass has been professionally sanded, and machine polished and has no scratches or cracks. It all looks crystal clear.

Trunk is in good condition with no real rust and a very nice original Mercedes rubber mat. There are a few spots of rust but only surface, not corroded through nor is any of it structural. The car comes with the original jack, spare rim and tire and lug wrench.
There was a handsome piece of vintage luggage with the car as well and is still in the trunk.

It photographs well and looks better in the photos than in person, but it has a special appeal that evades the shiny, heavily scrutinized world of restored Mercedes.

Funny enough, more people comment and are drawn to this one, than my perfectly restored Mercedes.

Car is located on the Westside with a clean and current Oregon title AND both front and rear original License plates.
