NIDA SMART-r Digital Phenotyping Repository Study
Dr. Brenda Curtis, a scientist with NIDA, is leading an online research study with individuals who use alcohol or drugs. The study is conducted completely online and aims to develop a digital repository by collecting data through smartphones, wearables (like smart watches), and online surveys to help analyze behaviors and risk factors associated with substance use.
This study involves taking daily online surveys and downloading a research app that runs “in the background” of your phone. You will not have to interact with the study app, but you will need to keep it active on your phone while you are in the study. Data is collected for up to six months, with daily and monthly updates and you will be compensated for participating in the study.
Participants must be 18 years or older, self-report recent alcohol or drug use, and own an Android smartphone as their primary device, keeping it active throughout the study (the study app is not compatible with iOS).
