VERY well made Restoration Hardware solid oak table that cost around $1,800
NO VENEER---Pure solid quartersawn oak all the way through
This is one of the small manufacturer pieces made by Michael's furniture of Sacramento for RH
He literally made small orders in a tiny shop and then got bigger with them and eventually was bought by RH
So the craftsmanship is NOT like other countries. It is more like the Amish furniture makers or Stickley Furniture
Quartersawn oak is used in most of the top and all four legs use quartersawn oak as the main legs
The rest is VERY select oak with slight quartersawn patterns.
The oak is exactly one inch thick on top which means it came from 5/4 lumber (1-1/4 inch thick then planed to 1 inch)
Top is 30 inches diameter
Height is 26-1/2 inches
VERY well jointed as there are zero splits in the wood on top
Finish is above average on the lower body as it started out great but we went over it with professional products to clean up tiny marks and then the entire table was coated with Stickley dressing
The top can be used as is but there were a few marks and the originally coating, maybe a polyurethane, got a bit worn. So it was color matched tinted for now and also coated with Stickley dressing. Can be used as is right now but can also use a nice recoat on top if preferred
Arts and Crafts furniture was started in England, Gustav Stickley created the periodical The Craftsman to promote this style of furniture. This table is made more like his shop or Leopold Stickley's, not like their brothers who made things at the Quaint Furniture company or The Stickley Bros. Furniture company which were not quite as popular
