RUTH CHAIS, collographist, whose works have hung in many galleries including the Palm Desert "Desert Museum", spent time near Idyllwild where she spent a working-vacation with desert artist, EDITH EISENBERG, and other well known artist acquaintances from San Fernando Valley.
Mrs. Chais' work, utilizes coloring in the intricate process of collography.
"First a design, or arrangement, is made on cardboard and if it merits reproduction, is shellacked. The outline of the design is carefully inked after the shellac is completely dry, then the cardboard goes to the press for printing," she explained. Ruth often humorously added, "I doubt if Rembrandt did this!"
