Refinished teak dining table by Knud Andersen for J.C.A. Jensen with original placard from storied Danish retailer Illums Bolighus, date stamped 1962.
Features elegantly tapered rectangular legs with softly rounded edges and a gently arched apron.
Two leaves stow beneath the main surface in notched trays which slide out and double as the leaf supports. Wooden turn-to-lock mechanisms on the underside of the leaves lock the leaves in place for regular use. Fully expanded the table reaches 113.5 inches, accommodating 10 guests with ease.
The grain on the leaves is orthogonal to the main surface, adding visual texture to the table in expanded form.
Fully refinished and looking close to perfect nearly 65 years on.
