The sculpted armchair by Palle Petersen & Erik Andersen remains one of our favorite designs.
Made by Randers in Denmark in the late 1950s, the chair is constructed from solid old growth teak with a signature three bar rosewood inlay that Petersen & Andersen included in their side chair design as well.
With its softly flowing curves, elegant tapers, and precisely sculpted back, the form is both organic and intentional. It combines the elegant simplicity of Wegner's "The Chair" with the aesthetic flourishes of his "Cowhorn" design.
This particular example has been restored to showroom condition, fully refinished and reupholstered in a textured slate leather from Edelman. The frames were refinished without stain and sealed with clear satin lacquer, maximizing the natural contrast between the teak and the rosewood inlay.
A piece of Danish design history that is as much an artwork as it is a piece of furniture.
