Fully restored pair of MP-93 lounge chairs by Percival Lafer, made in Brazil in the 1970s. The MP-93 offers cloud-like comfort with an upholstered seat cushion that floats in a geometric sled-leg base. Exposed hardware connects the lateral stretcher bars to leg assemblies – a signature element of Lafer design.
This pair was in need of a full overhaul when we acquired it. We disassembled the frames and reconstructed them joint by joint. We refinished the frames with neither stain nor toner to let the warm color of the jatoba wood shine through — factory finish on most Lafer models involved a ton of added color, to the extent that the woodgrain was muted almost completely.
The straps were refashioned from saddle leather and the cushions have been reupholstered in a pebble gray leather from Edelman.
We're delighted to present this pair for sale for the first time since their original purchase in the 1970s.
