Sublimely Scandinavian set of six teak & afromosia dining chairs, made in Denmark by Jydsk Mobelindustri c. 1960s.
The frames are feather light but remain rock solid after 60 years of use – an evergreen sign of superior craftsmanship. The posture of the hind legs with stiletto tapers in front and back resemble a daintier version of the iconic Jorgen Matz and John Sylvester design for Bramin.
The exaggerated bentwood backs are both ergonomic and highly distinctive, making this design recognizable in an instant.
The frames have been lightly sanded and finished in a durable satin lacquer. The seats have been fully reupholstered, including new cushions, in a mint green wool imported from Italy. Overall this set is in excellent condition.
