A pair of contemporary minimalist chrome and lacquered wood console tables by Sally Sirkin Lewis for J. Robert Scott, originally purchased at Kreiss in West Hollywood c. 2005. This design initially captivated us because of how elegantly the side rails and legs come together at each of the four corners, joining like liquid, without a trace of a weld.
The legs are pencil thin to begin with and taper almost to a point, creating a sense that the wooden tops are floating. The dominant feature of this design is empty space – beneath the tops and between the legs – making them perfect display tables. At the same time, the segmentation of grain patterns on the surfaces gives them an aesthetic appeal of their own.
Both tables retain the original J. Robert Scott tags. Refinished and ready for a new home.
