Amazing condition, unrestored, Ole Wanscher teak rocking chair and matching Ole Wanscher teak easy chair
These are the BEST versions from France and Son made around 1951-1967
Sold as a set for $2,500
Flexible down to $2,300 for the pair
OR
$2,000 for the rocker
$1,600 for the lounge chair
Yes, basically we are offering the side chair almost for free with the purchase of the rocker at $2,000
Lowered only because we are redoing our location and are temporarily cutting prices to make it easier to arrange things
The rocking chair in this condition typically sells for $4,500-6,000 by itself
The side chair typically sells for $2,500-4,000 by itself
Both are very rare. Getting a matched set is even more rare.
They have the same select teak and craftmanship and the same color finish---never restored
And they both have the ORIGINAL spring loaded cushions with air vents and spring support system
(see the very bottom for details)
The rocker should come up as the model FD120, and the side chair should come up as model FD119
Although a few sites show FD109 and FD110 but those appear to be three slats on the back versus these with the two wider ones
Please read the following to compare this model set to similar LOOKING ones

Ole Wanscher is one of the godfathers of Danish Modern, trained under and then worked with Kaare Klint.
He later became a professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. He also worked closely with I.J. Iversen
This is from France and Sons, made around 1951 to around 1967
(Silver makers mark with the F over a second F, Charles France signature and the serial number)
It was imported by John Stuart of New York and Grand Rapids Michigan
(Black and silver emblem. Some chairs for sale overseas do not have these as they were not imported into the U.S.)
This is the best version with the cleanest sleek lines and two back cross pieces. Top is narrow and the bottom is wide.
It also uses MUCH finer selected teak than the later copy versions made at CADO.
There are much earlier versions made by France and Daverkosen (same company before it was France and Sons) which are a bit more Bavarian looking. Those are also very rare. They are often made with FOUR back cross pieces. They are a bit thicker and harsh in their styling but use the same finer teak and amazing craftsmanship.
And then there are the cheaper, later copies made by CADO. Those versions appeared to be later attempts to mimic these original real one. CADO bought the rights to France and Sons around 1967-1969.
They made MUCH clunkier versions of the somewhat rare versions like this pair that we are selling. Those are around half the price as they are still technically Wanscher models but NOT from this same level.
The CADO models often used mismatched teak with wild patterns. So the combination of wavy wood and chunky work make those a completely different style of chair

Selling the PAIR for $2,500, flexible to $2,300
They have been married together since being made so we do not plan on separating them unless buying them each for a higher price

IF you can find either one of these to see in person, they will never be a matched set made with the same selection of teak.
And none appear to have the original spring cushions
Sold by themselves, it is possible to get these two for around $8,500 with tax and shipping (versus ours for $6,000) but the finish surfaces will not match. It took a lot of research to find any that match

France and Davorkesen was originally a mattress company.
These two chairs have the almost impossible to find, ORIGINAL spring loaded cushions made by them.
NOT cheap foam with new upholstery which will flatten very quickly.
Both the seat and back cushions have a similar internal spring system as a full size mattress. So they feel nothing like foam cushions. And they are HEAVY compared to cheap cushions. Each cushion has four built in air vents to release air when seated and suck air back in once a person gets up so the cushions retain their original shape.
These seem to be worth restoring for authenticity but also because of HOW they support a person.
The frame ALSO uses steel coil loop springs which are in amazing condition. Those go from the front to the back and support the seat cushion. The fabric has a few tears but the springs are clean and have the proper tension after all these years.
The vinyl appears to be original from the 1960s. It is in great shape on the back pieces. But the seat cushion has interior protective liners which tore years ago leaving holes in the surface vinyl. These four cushions are probably more rare than the chairs and are still shaped properly.
We can do a light restoration on the chairs using a single coat of proper Danish teak oil. Or a full blown, triple layered and buffed Danish teak oil restoration. But, since we are not upholstery specialists, we took $1,000 off to get new covers on these original cushions.A full restoration on the teak will bring the set to around $8,000
