WARNING!:There are a lot of cheaply made ones out there being sold as if they were manufactured by Delta. But without the original packaging and receipt you are risking getting a cheap China version that tends to crack & break within months. Once it is inside of your wall / faucet this is a nightmare to have to deal with. Better to only stick with one in original packaging and with original Delta receipt!
The Delta RP46074 MultiChoice Universal Cartridge Assembly is a replacement part that can be used to repair leaking bathroom tub or shower faucets. It also adds temperature control, to prevent scalds from hot water. It's also an essential component for the installation of bath or shower faucets. The RP46074 cartridge creates a watertight seal and controls the flow of water through your tub or shower tap. It's compatible with a large range of Delta/Brizo faucets (anything from their 13 or 14 series faucets). This cartridge prevents leaks & drips even when your faucet is turned off. It is made entirely of plastic & stainless steel, making it an appropriate choice for bathroom repairs in areas where brass breaks down due to minerals in the plumbing water supply.

The Delta RP46074 cartridge is a single-function pressure-balance cartridge. It controls the temperature of the water that comes from your tub or shower. As long as you have a sufficient hot water supply, the replacement will work to control the temperature. Note that it is necessary to get a correctly sized water heater to maintain hot water the longer you run your tub or shower. At 60 psi, the RP46074 will provide about 6 gallons of water per minute. You can adjust the flow rate by changing the showerhead completely or installing a model that is adjustable. If the inside your faucet valve has cracked or otherwise deteriorated, this cartridge offers an easy, do-it-yourself repair with simple instructions.
HOW TO INSTALL:
Just turn off the water to the faucet. Remove the bonnet ring and pull the broken cartridge straight out of the valve. If it does not want to slide out, soak a towel in an equal solution of water and white vinegar to break up deposits. Finally, slip in this new component and return the bonnet ring. Due to the fact that this cartridge is pressure balanced, it equalizes the flow rate to the lowest pressure of the hot and cold water supply. You will need to have the hot and cold water supplies turned on for water to flow through the valve. Most people with basic home repair experience will be able to follow the directions and successfully repair a leaking shower valve, but you can also ask a professional to complete the installation.
