Boutique law office seeking experienced, specialized paralegal(s) to work as independent contractors (1099) under attorney supervision.
You must have deep experience in at least ONE primary practice area and be able to manage files end-to-end in that niche, working directly with clients and third parties.
Practice Areas Needed (choose your lane)
We are looking for paralegals who are strong in one or more of the following:
Personal Injury
Auto, pedestrian, premises liability, dog bites, etc.
Medical records/bills, treatment tracking, demands, liens
Trusts, wills, HC directives, deeds, probate pleadings, notices
Other Civil Litigation (specify)
Business disputes, contract matters, other defined niche
We are not seeking generalists who “dabble” in many areas.
We want paralegals who are very strong in a defined practice area and can carry those cases from start to finish.
Responsibilities
Within your primary specialty area, you must be able to:
Manage cases end-to-end, including:
Client intake and fact gathering
Opening, organizing, and maintaining electronic files
Communicating with clients, adjusters, opposing counsel, providers, etc.
Tracking deadlines, hearings, mediations, discovery, and follow-ups
Assisting with settlement, closing files, and post-settlement tasks
Communicate professionally and clearly in writing and by phone/Zoom
Provide regular status updates and flag issues to the supervising attorney
Maintain confidentiality and follow law office procedures
Requirements
Specialized experience in at least one of the practice areas listed above
Demonstrated ability to run a file in that specialty from intake through resolution
Strong legal writing, organization, and follow-through
Comfortable working independently as a 1099 contractor, not W-2 employee
Reliable computer, scanner, and internet for remote work
Familiarity with California practice and forms strongly preferred
Compensation is per case and/or hourly, depending on structure and experience, and will be discussed individually.
