Hello. My name is Rick Steier.

I have been playing professionally for more than 30 years. I have played with Vince Neil, Warrant, Quiet Riot and other famous bands. I’m currently playing and touring with Kingdom Come, a band that became popular back in the late 80s and early 90s.
When I’m not on the road or in the studio, I teach guitar and piano. Although I have played rock ‘n’ roll most of my adult life, I did attend the University of Louisville school of music where I learned to play all types of music. Also playing in cover bands all across the Midwest in my teens and early 20’s, I learned to play rock, jazz country, blues, etc.
So now I teach all styles and theory to any aspiring musician. Young or old!!

OK. That’s great and all but YOU used to play the guitar when you were younger, but kind of gave it up because there were other priorities in your life. You didn’t play professionally, but you could play half decent. But you haven’t touched that guitar in years. And now you’re thinking about playing again because you’re a little older and you remember how fun it was. All you want to do now is get your chops back up to par so you can play a few songs that sound good.
You play often but all your leads sound the same. No matter what you do, all your solos end up sounding alike. Face it, you’re in a rut. You need some help. You want your solos to sound exciting like they did when you first started playing.
Well look no further because I’m your guy. I know exactly what you’re going through and know how to get you where you want to be - excited about playing again! A lot of my students are adults so I can relate on your level. I can definitely get you motivated again and you’ll remember why you started playing in the first place.
If neither of the above scenario’s relate to you,

I am also experienced in WORKING WITH CHILDREN (since I have two of my own)
I even taught Guitar Enrichment classes at Wilbur Charter Elementary school while my kids attended there.
For those who already play guitar but want to get a little more serious with it,
I teach -
1. How to play chords. Even advanced jazz chords.
2. Sight reading.
3. Soloing over all types of rhythms and chord changes.
4. Music Theory ( Why is a Bminor7th chord called that?)
5. Most any type song.
6. Song writing and composition.
7. Advice on becoming successful in the music business. (I'VE BEEN THERE)
I like to teach through songs. Even with beginners. This way they never get bored practicing and the students pick the songs THEY want learn. I guarantee results with fun enjoyable lessons.
For beginning older students, I specialize in CLASSIC ROCK - The Doors, The Beatles, Boston, Led Zeppelin, etc.
PLEASE call me before committing to another teacher so I can explain my approach and why it works so well. You will not be disappointed.
ASK ABOUT REFERENCES. LET MY STUDENTS TELL YOU WHAT THEY THINK!!!!
