Les liked it enough that after approving it, he kept it. It was found in his bedroom, according to the guys who documented the items at the auction. They had no idea what year it was made, and guessed 80s/90s due to the headstock shape, which is a slightly narrower bookend than a current Gibson.
I can tell you that it feels and plays wonderfully, and sounds like 103% pure balls...I see why he kept it.
I nerded out pretty hard when I got it, but before actually playing it, I changed the strings, and when I removed the strings that Les played I stashed them away in the case. They're still there.
I've only put about 15 minutes on it since buying it in 2012. The rest of the time its been a case queen, so if you can find a blemish on it, it was put there by Les. :)
There WAS a wee bit of dust on it, which you can see on the headstock photo. That's Les Paul's house dust right there.
The guitar will come with:
1.) Original Gibson Chainsaw Case with the recessed latches
2.) Provenance/receipt
3.) One original copy of the Estate Sale catalog still sealed in plastic
4.) The original guitar strings that Les Paul played
5.) the auction hang tags and placard
6.) One guitar pick commemorating the Les Paul Estate Sale
