Pearl Elegante Sterling Silver Flute. Model number 795RBECD Sterling Silver "Forza" headjoint, body and foot. Handmade Open hole, "B" Foot Offset G Split "E" C# Trill D# Roller and Gizmo. Mint Condition and just meticulously serviced by my technician. This flute would be an excellent choice for an advanced student or professional, incorporating all the expensive "extras" normally associated with high end flutes costing much more. This instrument plays with core, beauty, power, response and excellent intonation. But do not take my word for this. Compare it to my Powell and draw your own conclusions. Discounted new ones cost $3881 after sales tax. This one will save you a large fortune, and only your accountant will know (but not hear) the difference! Optional Largo and Forza headjoints with 10K lip plates are available at additional cost.
I believe that the greatest value in professional flutes is a used, great condition Japanese flute. Sankyo, Altus, Muramatsu and Yamaha all make great instruments, and I have owned many of them over the years. What makes Pearl so special is that I do not believe that any other Japanese flute maker manufactures a hand made, sterling silver flute with all the "bells and whistles" at a price anywhere near a Pearl. And, I found most the headjoints too bright and edgy. Yes, you can scream a low D, but the edge and lack of resistance above G on the staff is annoying, and does not record as well.
