condition: excellent
make / manufacturer: Fender
model name / number: American Deluxe
Hello, for sale is my 2002 Fender American Deluxe PJ V Bass in Great Condition.

These basses are Super Rare, especially in this color combination.

Top of the heap Fender Bass with 22 frets with abalone dots! (Ultras and Elites only have 21 frets).
IMHO, these are the best basses Fender USA ever made.
The look, the feel, the functionality. They simply don't make them like this anymore.
If you love the PJ format, this is the way to go. These Deluxes absolutely thump and ooze that great Fender bass sound.

CONDITION: Very Good/Excellent

Frets, Headstock, and Neck are flawless. Lots of life left on the frets. Some fretboard wear on the 18-22 fret on the G string (see pic). It does not affect playability. The body has some normal play wear with some light scuffs on the back and front belly.

*This bass is for the player, not the collector, as it is heavily modified (in all the right ways).

I am the second owner. I purchased this bass on Reverb. It was in good condition when I bought it. It had a Tonestyler and a V Mod II neck pickup. It sounded great but I wanted to bring it back to being an Active Electronics bass so I took it to my tech, Chris, at Guitar Center to upgrade the bass with a Hipshot Bridge, Hipshot Ultra Lite Tuners, Dunlop In-Body Strap Locks, a WD Music Pickguard and Nordstrand 3b-4b Preamp and Nordstrand NP5FA Neck Pickup (so, so good!). The preamp is Volume/Tone, Blend, Treble/Bass, Mid. The bridge pickup is stock Fender and sounds very good but its volume is slightly lower than the thump of the neck pickup, which is normal. Same situation with my other PJ.

I then had Pat Wilkins do a Satin neck treatment which makes this bass play super fast and effortlessly. He performed a complete re-assembly and set up with Ernie Ball Super Slinky strings.

It comes with a Gator Case Gig Bag. No original parts will be included in the sale.

*If you don't know who Pat Wilkins is, in addition to having his own line of basses, he paints for Mike Lull, Rodger Sadowsky USA, Lakland USA and a host of other high end builders. He's among the elite of instrument refinishers and painters and just a super cool dude. He has the magic touch of taking any instrument and making it better. Fortunately for me, his shop is 10 minutes from me. Unfortunately he sanded off the serial # during the Satin neck job process, but I attached a photo of the headstock before the Satin job. Save the pic for your records.

Serial #DZ2038736

Sold AS IS. No returns.

This bass needs nothing.
The asking price of the bass is fair when you take into account the cost of the bass, the satin neck job, the upgraded parts and labor.

Thanks for looking!
