1957 Gibson Les Paul Special | TV Yellow | P90 | serial# 7-7261 | Original pickups | Original finish | Original bridge studs | Original tuners

Solid body electric, Kalamazoo Michigan. Limed (tv yellow) mahogany finish, mahogany body and neck, rosewood fingerboard, single-cutaway. Black plastic "soapbar" covers, P-90 pups. Black bonnet knobs. Multi-ply beveled-edge black celluloid pickguard. Pearl Gibson logo and silkscreen "Les Paul Special" designation.

Re-fretted by Bobby Carlos around 1989; repro tuners (original tuners are included); repro strap pins; repro bridge tailpiece; new pots; repro output jack plate.

Installed with the ILITCH / John Suhr hum cancelling system, Erik Goehrisch (LUSH Guitars) in the controls cavity (no holes drilled) super quiet, vastly reducing pickup hum typical with single coil pups. Neck is NOT a "baseball bat" sized neck, very comfortable shape and size.

Although 1957 was the peak production year for this model less than 1500 were shipped out. Single cutaway Specials are much more solid in construction than the double-cutaway version introduced in late 1958. A few small scuffs but overall in very good condition for a classic vintage instrument made 65 years ago. Slab mahogany body, 50s-style mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard, two p-90 pickups, wraparound bridge.

Included is a 70's era Les Paul LP (blue interior) hardshell case. The original tuners are included in the case compartment.

This guitar was recently setup by John Wescott, who said this guitar is "several notches above a 'player' guitar". The back of the body has very lite belt buckle scuffing. More photos upon request. Thanks...
