I'm a 28 yr old guitarist that plays classic rock, original metal tunes, jazz standards and likes to improvise. I'm looking for some musicians to play with, we could try some standards but I'm also open to original compositions and different methods of improvisation and collective improvisation. Although I started off as a blues rock (Jimi Hendrix acolyte) guitarist at 14, I've become heavily influenced by people like Trane, Bird, Ornette Coleman, Eric Dolphy, Monk, The Art Ensemble of Chicago, and the AACM. I'm mostly looking for horn players (clarinet, bass clarinet, alto/tenor sax, trumpet), strings (cello mostly to replace bass), and maybe piano. I have a sense for guitar comping, a pianistic approach with pick and fingers. I use a tc electronic ditto looper (for extra guitar tracks) and tc electronic chorus for my sound. I play a 7-string Jackson and the extra string gives me more bass-y voicings.
I'm currently working w/ a drummer but he's more of a metal guy. This guy wears a new vintage black metal t-shirt every time I see him. We play classic rock and original metal tunes, I sing, he plays drums. We're trying to be like a more hard rocking White Stripes or Black Keys. We've got some live recordings here (https://soundcloud.com/orlando-figueroa-17). However I'm also interested in playing straight ahead, post-bop jazz style, or even in a free form context.
