Technicolor Hot Tub -- a freshly starting glam rock band -- seeks the remainder of its founding members. We're crafting the band around a very specific musical / visual concept, all of which centers around its key values:
- Spectacle is emotion.
- Positivity demands power.
- Sincerity begets change.
- People are more beautiful than they remember.
Technicolor Hot Tub is a live-first band. (Meaning: our emphasis is on live shows and performances. Other things come later.) After a period of concept development, we're now holding auditions for electric guitar, keys, and drums.
This project is for musicians who find themselves drawn to stage presence, atmosphere, and emotional impact, and who desire to give that to others. The audience should leave every show feeling energized, uplifted, and inspired. If they don't, then we haven't done our job.
We're not just showing up to performances, we're crafting an intentional experience.
If that doesn't speak to you, no sweat.
If it does, read on.

THE COLORS
- - - - - - - -
Technicolor Hot Tub performs onstage as four distinct identities called the Colors:
- Pink (electric guitar)
- Red (keys)
- Green (drums)
- Blue (lead vocals / supporting keys)
(Some Colors may also be considered for supporting vocals based on skillset / interest.)
Each Color wears an outfit in their dominant color / namesake. (i.e. Blue wears blue, Green wears green, etc.) Outfits are coordinated, NOT identical. Each Color also wears a symbol on their face via makeup; specific symbol and placement are up to each Color, as are the specific design of each Color's stage outfit.
When performing or appearing publicly as the band, members use ONLY their Color name. Personal names, backstories, or identities are withheld from public eye. The Colors never explain the concept of the band, nor 'break the fourth wall'. If a member steps away from the project for any reason, they are free to do so: their Color remains as a character, and another musician can step into that role without the band losing any part of its identity. (But -- very obviously -- our Color identities won't be required for any offstage meetings, rehearsals, etc.; only for public appearances and band performances.)
For the audience, the band arrives in character and leaves in character.
The Colors exist to keep the band's identity seamless and cohesive. They keep the audience's focus on the band and the experience. They keep our focus on crafting that experience for them.

THE MUSIC
- - - - - - - -
Our style of music lives comfortably in glam rock, stadium rock, and synth-heavy ballads. In no particular order, notable influences include:
- Journey
- Europe
- Survivor
- TOTO
- Triumph
- Pat Benatar
- Foreigner
We'll begin with covers to build chemistry and live presence. Original material will come later. (But, rest assured, it will come.) Rehearsals will be scheduled intentionally and consistently. (Weekly or bi-weekly.) Emphasis will be placed on preparedness over frequency.
Every show is designed as an experience, not a random set. For live shows, any setlist should follow a loose three-act structure:
- ACT I: SPECTACLE. Think "Separate Ways" by Journey, or "Jump" by Van Halen. We open with immediate impact, high energy, and powerful music to get the audience in motion.
- ACT II: EMOTIONAL DEPTH. This is where we have our more reflective / emotional songs. Think a glam rock cover of "Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Bonnie Tyler; "Faithfully" by Journey; "I'll Follow You" by REO Speedwagon; "Ever Since the World Began" by Survivor. Here, our focus rests on atmosphere, beauty, and connection.
- ACT III: ENERGY / INSPIRATION. Here -- when we finish off a live show -- is when we drive energy and inspiration into the audience. We've already given them emotion, and now, we supercharge their belief in themselves. Songs with uplift and strong momentum belong here. Think "Dare" by Stan Bush, or "God Gave Rock and Roll To You II" by KISS.
You do not need to be a touring professional, nor a master of your instrument(s). You do, however, need decent fundamentals, a good grasp of time, willingness to rehearse / prepare, and respect for the overall concept.
To audition, our process encompasses the following:
1) INITIAL RESPONSE. If you're interested in joining the project and crafting memorable experiences for an audience, simply respond to this ad. We'll have an email reply sent back to you.
2) GOOGLE FORM. You'll receive a link to a brief Google form requesting general info. (i.e. name, approx. location, experience with music, which Color you're auditioning for, etc.)
3) RECORDED AUDITION. We'll have you submit a recorded audition (video or audio) of any song of your choosing.
4) SECOND RECORDING. We'll ask the top candidates to provide one more recorded audition, all of the same specific song. (We'll let you know when the time comes.)
5) IN-PERSON REHEARSAL. The final candidate for each Color will be invited to an in-person rehearsal. If all goes well, the founding members are confirmed on the spot. We move forward from there.
We aim to move through this process as efficiently and respectfully as possible.
