A successful woman...

Women are supposed to get married, have children, and be a housewife.

At least that is what women my age born when I was are supposed to do.

So I had a low-paying job.

I didn't go to college.

Someone I went to high school with saw me.

I hid from her.

She went after me and told me her situation.

She went to college and got her M.R.S. degree meaning she went to college to get a husband.

So she got married to him and they had a couple of children.

Meanwhile I wasn't even going to a junior college.

I was not married and not dating anyone.

I felt ashamed of myself.

I had run into a couple of women I went to elementary school with.

One was not married but was college educated and she had a good job.

She was a lesbian and I knew that.

She was still with a woman who she met in elementary school with.

She had both a college degree/and career and a significant other. A double whammy success.

Her girlfriend had a career too.

Fast forward it's been a long time since back then.

Now everyone knows I'm unemployed even though I have only a 4 year useless degree.

I would still be considered to be a loser meaning unemployed and poor.

But hey I'm not homeless.

I don't have children and glad about that.

Today I went to a birthday party and gave birthday gifts for the birthday woman.

My boyfriend was there.

I wonder if people can tell by looking at me.

I walk down the street and I just know complete strangers just know that I am totally unsuccessful; a loser.

But then tonight at my friend's birthday, hey she's alive...and that is being successful.

I'm glad she is still alive.

And she is 10 years younger than I am.

When I hear news of others dying from all kinds of bad stuff, I cry for them.

I guess I'm lucky that it hasn't happened to me yet.

One day I will die sooner than later but for now I'm alive thus successful.

At least I'm not suffering.

There were a lot of times I wanted to be someone else where I really suffered, those times have passed.

What lies ahead I don't know but for now things are okay.

I pray that friends and family and others that bad stuff doesn't happen to them.
