I am an optioned screenwriter. I've written seven feature-length scripts and a pilot the last two and a half years, many of which have advanced in competitions.
I am seeking a co-screenwriter to help me rewrite a current screenplay OR write a new screenplay.
TRYING TO MAKE IT AS A SCREENWRITER IN HOLLYWOOD COSTS MONEY. I have personally spent probably $10,000 the last three years getting my scripts out there. I am not shy about spending money.
I am not asking for any money from you up front. However, if and when we complete a script, you should be fine with: hosting/paying for evaluations on the blacklist website, submitting to high profile competitions like Nichols, and hosting scripts on InkTip. Realistically, we should be spending anywhere from $500-1000 per script in total. Therefore, if we split the cost, you can do the math. If we spend $500, your expense is $250. If we spend $1000, your expense is $500.
I am open-minded to working with relatively inexperienced writers but you should at least have one or two short scripts completed as a writing sample. Idealistically, we should be working on two different scripts at once. You should be the lead writer on one script with me advising/editing/helping you craft the story. And vice versa. A first draft of a script should be completed within 2-4 months of conceiving the idea. If we follow this formula, we should have at least 5-6 completed screenplays by the end of a year, therefore increasing our chances of catching a break in a tough business.
If our scripts get made, we split all income/profits 50/50. We will share writing credit 50/50 as well.
