Rare book and manuscript dealer specializing in women's history, 19th and 20th century literature, and history is seeking a part-time assistant with hours ranging between 25-32 per week, plus occasional overtime. Position requires ability to research historically significant persons and write appropriate descriptions for their books, letters, and documents. You will need excellent writing and collaborative skills. You will be writing descriptions for archives, rare books, etc., and have daily office administrative duties. A good background in history and/or literature is helpful, and a love of books is a must.
4-year college degree
Excellent writing skills
Excellent communication skills
Excellent research skills
Must have at least 55wpm typing speed
Comfortable with PC Computer
Knowledgeable in Microsoft Word and Outlook
Ability to work in a small office environment
At least 1 year business experience as an administrative assistant or comparable
Not required but helpful if:
Experience with Filemaker Pro Database
