Specialized Hard Rock 21-speed mountain bike, nineties vintage. It has a near-new pair of street tires and tubes (Panaracer 26x1.5). Small to medium size steel frame (sticker says its a 15-inch), rigid fork. Likely a good fit for a rider 5-4 to 5-8 height. True it does have some cosmetic rust here n there, but every moving part has been lubricated and works well including the twist shifters (Specialized OE), all 21 gears, canti brakes, wheels, kickstand, etc. Durban semi-plush saddle is a brand-new one. And I installed a new pair of pedals, too.
The riding position is more upright compared to regular mountain bikes, so I think its more of a town bike with some trail ability. Very good as a daily ride, has smooth-edged controls and components. Triple gearing lets you climb steepest of hills, strong brakes allows safe bomber runs down.
Posted on craigslist are plenty of bikes that have been sitting years on the balcony or patio whose owners are tired of stumbling over its forlorn mass, these are the (former) rides with rusted-shut cables, frozen chains, shredded saddles and broken pedals. For $100 or more extra they can be brought back to life. This bike I'm offering is a nicely spruced-up Specialized. Don't bother to compare it to Magna, Roadmaster, or other cheapo department-store bikes, this is a well-made bike from Taiwan built with attention to detail and reliability (note: its equipped with shimano components from the factory) by Specialized Bicycles. If some surface rust freaks you out, don't bother answering. Where it counts - mechanically and comfortwise - this bike shines.
Was asking $85. Selling for 80. Buy it and you're ready to ride.
