As a former classroom teacher, I know that the first, back-to-school month in the fall is filled with catcthing-up types of lessons. I never liked seeing how much had been forgotten. Let's avoid that gap.
Now is the perfect time to hire a tutor to work with your child to stay ahead of the reading/writing/grammar challenges that are coming.
Now is the time to create the rhythm of thinking and performing that school requires.
Now is confidence-building time.
I am a private teacher who designs custom lessons for families who are determined to move their children ahead during every month of the year. I know of many ways to to that. Most often I work with students (ages 8 through university) online as they do homework assignments. They are eager to have a writing coach who helps them brainstorm and teaches them how to find and fix mistakes in their essays. They want to get A's and they do. They feel supported and confident to tackle any assignment, knowing that they have a teacher/writer/friend ready to help when they open their computers.
We work in Google.docs and I often correct students' writing before they hand it in, teach complex grammar rules, improve comprehension and expand their vocabulary. I am a writer of poetry and how-to-write books. Therefore, I share my love of literature and creative writing. They "get it." Writing is fun. Reading is exciting.
Fee: $50/hr/$75/90 minutes -- once or twice per week. Paid with Zelle at or before each lesson.
Summer Series -- June, July, August -- 12 weeks (12 or 24 lessons) lots of progress.
Text me at 626.497.1165. We can make a phone appt. to discuss your child and how to make this school year the most productive ever. I reschedule meetings to accommodate schedules. Also sports practice is not a problem. We work around busy schedules.
I do not require packages or advanced payment. I communicate with parents after every lesson; they tell me what they want and I report on all their child's progress.
