Dolmetsch double manual, from either just before or just after the war; 1x4’, 2x8’, 1x16’, buff stop. Decorated in the style of the old Chickering and Gaveau Dolmetsch instruments, and presumed to have been in the collection of Edgardo Sodero, who lent several antique keyboard instruments to the former Fiske Museum in Claremont, Calif. This was purchased together with a 1792 Garcka square piano that was in the museum for a time.
Not in playing condition. 4’ hitchpin rail has failed and will need to be reglued, the instrument restrung, regulated, and revoiced. Some cheek disease but nothing alarming or extraordinarily bad—just a reality of old harpsichords. No bowing of the soundboard (a few small cracks), no failed bridges interfering with sounding part of strings.
