It has the hard to find 9 pin serial port sought after by those who need to plug in devices designed for those ports.
Many people have no concept of a Windows 98 laptop. They think that a laptop should work like a current laptop, have a lot of memory, big hard drive, fast cpu, wifi, etc. Back in those days, they did not have any of the advanced stuff in a laptop that you take for granted nowadays. Windows 98 was the first os to be able to receive info from a usb drive or a CD. Before that you had a floppy disc drive and that was all. Most Windows 98 laptops had perhaps a 6 GB hard drive, memory from 64 MB to 512MB if you had a higher end laptop. They might have had a Pentium 2 or 3 processor, maybe a Pentium 4 or Pentium M if they were higher end models.
There are only very few laptops left that nowadays that are able to have Windows 98 installed that have drivers for the video, sound, USB, CD/DVD player, etc. One of the main problems with buying a Windows 98 laptop if you can find one is that you may get a Windows 98 old installation on it's last legs that works for a bit on the tired wimpy Pentium 2 laptop with 256 MB of memory and it dies in a short amount of time. Another problem you might encounter is you get someones installation of 98 but they were missing one or more of the main drivers so you don't have sound or don't have proper video installed, can't play a CD, can't use the USB, etc.
There are very few of us out there who can get a Windows 98 laptop suitably working for you with at least the main drivers in for you to be able to enjoy the laptop. They usually charge many hundreds of dollars. Luckily for you, I have been able to invest literally dozens of hours over several months in my spare time to sort out a good working experience for you with Windows 98 SE on a reasonably good looking laptop with good speed. There are a couple drivers that I couldn't find, but they are for unimportant things such as a smart card or internet or wifi. These items were not available on a laptop during the time of Windows 98. Most laptops with Windows 2000 which came later still didn't have wifi yet as we know it. As such, don't expect to get on the internet.
I do not play video games, so I have not tested how well you can play them and as such, I do not refund if you don't find your video game to be as awesome as your mind thinks it might be or won't play it. I am making up something that is basically obsolete for people to run rare softwares on for their business, and if you can play your games, great!
It comes with the power adapter cord, a CD/DVD player, a 1.60 GHz Pentium M processor, 80 GB hard drive and 512 MB ram. The battery is good and the laptop also works fine with just the cord. It can play CD's and DVD's.
There may be scratches, scuffs, or other marks on the edges or bottom of the laptop as it is being sold used with some wear on it. The cover and palm rest are brand new old stock so it looks great.
I have freshly installed everything (so no viruses like in many used computers). I also have a few other similar laptops available for purchase if you want to use one now and stash one or two for later use if you want to secure your ability to still use your softwares that won't work on Windows 10 or 11. A good powerful laptop with this operating system on it is basically unable to be found anywhere except from me.
