I'm an English lit PhD with over a decade of experience as a WRITING PROFESSOR at a prestigious university.

* Why not just use ChatGPT?
- AI resources like ChatGPT can be useful tools in the writing process, but you really SHOULD NOT RELY ON AI to write your essay for you. The fundamental purpose of the college essay is to show the admissions committee who you are as a person and how you stand out from other applicants. It's also your opportunity to speak in your own voice. AI-written essays come up short on both. They tend to be very formulaic in structure and they all sound the same. Rather than standing out from the crowd, you'll sound just like all the other applicants who used ChatGPT to write their essays.
- AI can only work with what you give it. One of the most valuable things about working with me is that my process involves interviewing you to identify stories that you may not have considered using in your essay.
