Role Summary: We’re seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Controller to support operations, project accounting, preparing financial statements, budgeting, forecasts, cash flow management, payroll & HR.
. This role directly supports the Company partners.
Key Responsibilities:
•Job Costing & Budget Monitoring: Setting up and maintaining project budgets, tracking hard and soft costs, and performing
monthly reviews of job cost activity.
• Draw Request Management: Preparing, reviewing, and submitting monthly construction loan draws and bank
reconciliations.
• Accounts Payable & Subcontractor Payments: Processing invoices from contractors, managing lien waivers, and ensuring
proper approval for change orders.
• Month-End Close & Financial Reporting: Preparing financial statements, journal entries, work-in-progress (WIP) schedules,
and cash flow analysis.
• Compliance & Reporting: Ensuring compliance with investor agreements and lender requirements.
• Financial Control: Tracking construction in progress (CIP), managing retainage, and monitoring project burn rates.
• Vendor Management: Reconciling subcontractor contracts, ensuring timely payments, and maintaining relationships with
architects and contractors.
• Managed all accounts payable/receivable, analyzed budget to actual variances.
• Process Payroll, Payroll reporting, workers compensation audit.
• End of year certification audit
Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner
• Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable
• Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly
• Process payroll in a timely manner
• Daily and monthly bank reconciliation
• Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis
• Maintain the chart of accounts
• Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
• Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
• Issue timely and complete financial statements
• Corporate statements.
• Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
• Financial & Operations Metrics
• Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
• Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
• Provide for a system of management cost reports
• Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and
contract negotiation.
• Coordinate the provision of information to external auditorsforthe annual audit
• Monitor debt levels and compliancewith debt covenants
• Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
Required Qualifications:
• 4+ years Accounting Management experience within construction/contracting or trades industry preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven experience booking travel and managing travel logistics for small teams.
• Proficiency with cloud-based tools (Microsoft 365 & SharePoint)
• Experience with project management or CRM tools (e.g., Procore, Textura or similar) is a plus.
• Comfortable with bookkeeping/invoicing software (QuickBooks Online, or similar).
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Reliable high-speed internet and a remote workspace; U.S. work hours overlap with company hours required.
• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree or relevant certification required.
