This hand carved tropical hardwood tribal head thumb piano or Kalimba is an African tribal native musical instrument.
A type of plucked idiophone(lamellophone) common throughout Sub-Saharan Africa and this Antique musical instrument is a rare fine.
It is also known as a"sansa" and"mbira"
It is popular throughout central, western and eastern Africa.
The kalimba is played by holding the instrument in the hands and plucking the tines with the thumbs.
The name kalimba was originally only used for the gourd thumb piano.
It is often an important instrument played at religious - spiritual indigenous ceremonies, weddings, and other social gatherings.
