For sale is a beautiful hand painted antique Howe Scale Co. #5066 cast iron mercantile countertop balance beam scale. This scale is a one-of-a-kind due to an artist’s beautiful restoration. Provenance provided by the son of the original owner/artist as follows: Deborah Woods (brass pan signed “D. Woods 1978”) disassembled, cleaned and painted entire scale and pan in a beautiful rich brown color and then hand painted the floral and fruit motif on the pan, base and center weight. This is a working balance scale complete with its counter weights and brass product pan. Manufactured in the late 1890’s by Howe Scale Co. Rutland Vt. This scale weighs approximately 10 lbs. and is 15” long 11" high and 6" wide. The pan is approximately 15" long 10” wide and 3" in depth.
