This model of Ampex preamlifier was involved in thousands of studio and live performances and many recordings of most of the best bands and musicians of that generation! Ampex 440B series of tape recorder electronics for playback and recording of the original master tapes. All 6 (3 per unit) plug-in Ampex printed-circuit cards are present and original = not modified. (Worth the price of this whole deal alone, just the 6 circuit cards here)

You can own a part of that music recording tradition and this pair of Ampex preamps can be easily and simply modified to create a MICROPHONE PREAMPLIFIER for your home studio that will sound amazing... No chips in these circuits all separate DISCRETE parts-components for the best sound. A little re-wiring and a few discrete parts changes to take out the tape related circuits, connectors, and make it a simple gain stage for clean simple preamplificatin of your favorite studio microphone.. Classic US made Dixon VU meters that are large enough to see well, and US made Allen Bradley volume pots are some of the best components ever used in studio electronics products. Transformer coupled gain stages using a fine German Made audio transformer.
