Genuine Mid-Century Modern Writing Desk or Vanity (if you mount a mirror onto your wall above it),
with Highboy-style Tall Dresser.
>>The 7-Drawer Desk / Vanity is: 54-1/8"wide x 20"deep x 27-3/4"high.
The kneehole opening is: 25-3/4"wide x 19"deep x 23-1/4"high.
The interior-space dimensions of each one of the six side-column drawers is: 9-3/4"wide x 17"deep x 5"high.
>>The 5-Drawer Dresser / Chest of Drawers is: 36-1/4"wide x 20-1/4"deep x 45-1/4"high.
A matched pair, they were manufactured and purchased brand-new in 1948 from a local West Los Angeles furniture store.
There is a factory (or possibly dealership) date stamping, hidden inside the desk, that reads: "MAY 26 1948".
The ENTIRE history of this set IS KNOWN, ever since the day they were first bought brand-new in 1948, for a then-21-year-old girl's bedroom in the house that she was born into (in 1926). And we can tell you all about that history, if you'd like to hear it.
And, both pieces have been living together (...longer than your parents...lol!), and been in our family, ever since their first-sold day!
Blond wood finish, on solid-wood and plywood construction. All dovetail joints, with no structural nails or screws!
REAL WOOD (not a 'faux-finish'!) 'book-matched' veneer on the face of all six of the desk side-column drawers, and also on the bottom three drawers of the dresser, creating a 'zigzag' pattern across all the drawers in each vertical stack (see the photos).
Both pieces have raw unfinished wood on their backside - so, they're designed to be pushed against a wall so the back isn't seen.
There is a manufacturer's identification stencil on the back of each piece (seen in the photos).
These pieces each weigh 'a TON'! Extremely heavy (more-so than they look!), and both are 'built like tanks'. Everything is super-SOLID, and there are NO loose joints or wobbliness, anywhere! Both pieces have been only lightly used throughout their entire lives, and been VERY well-cared-for.
ALL the wood finishing is all-ORIGINAL (having NEVER been 'refinished' in any way!), and showing only minor wear.
They're in truly remarkable condition for 77-year-old furniture!
All the knobs and pulls have been recently restored to their factory-original finish, and really 'pop' against the wood color (much nicer looking in-person than the photos show).
The desk has a factory-made 'accessory' painted-solid-wood-construction TRAY inside the center (above-knee) drawer, that has fixed dividers, and green-felt lining on the bottom of each compartment (all in perfect condition). The tray can freely slide backward-and-forward inside the drawer, and is also removable. It was clearly precisely-designed for use inside this particular drawer, and came with the desk when purchased new.
If you're using the desk as a 'desk', you can use this tray for pencils and paperclips and such. If you're using it as a 'vanity', you can use it as a jewelry tray.
The dresser has one built-in (but removable) solid-wood (not plywood) DIVIDER in the topmost drawer, and also a similar DIVIDER in the third drawer down - the top one of the bottom-section of three large drawers (see photos).

The vintage 1950's black & white desk / side chair seen in some of the photos is also for sale, for an additional $200.00.
All the black parts are enamel-painted wood, and the white seat is padded vinyl.
However; the height of the seat of this chair is 18". And given that the kneehole opening of this desk is 23-1/4" high, that leaves only 5-1/4" for the thickness of your thighs, above the chair. Which is a tight fit for most people, unless you're a very small person. Or; unless you put the desk up on blocks of some kind to raise it a bit higher off your floor. Or; use a different, and lower, chair. This chair obviously wasn't originally intended to 'go' with this desk and dresser, since the styles are clearly very different.
So, the chair is shown in the attached photos mostly just to give you a sense of the size of the desk and dresser. And it's not included in the $500.00 price. $500.00 buys you the desk & dresser together, without the chair.
