Snake plants (or Mother in Law's Tongue, also known as Sansevieria) are a popular houseplant due to their low maintenance requirements and striking appearance.
Mother-in-law’s tongue is a hardy, low-maintenance houseplant that even appreciates some neglect. If you are a newbie to caring for houseplants, this one is a great one to start with! Thick, rigidly upright, patterned leaves that grow from thick rhizomes to form 2 foot wide rosettes. Leaves are dark green banded with yellow edges, that can grow 4 feet tall, 2 inches wide. They are native to tropical regions of Africa and are often used as decorative plants due to their unique shape and color.
To care for this Sansevieria plant, keep it in partial shade or low light, water when the soil dries, and make sure the roots never get waterlogged. Proper plant care helps to make sure that it’s resistant to pests. Tolerates most conditions. Makes an excellent houseplant where it will improve indoor air quality. Do your own research to see that this is a plant recommended to keep in a bedroom for improved sleep quality.
My plants are healthy and happy because I use only natural fertilizer (fish emulsion) and grown in organic soil with worm castings. I use egg shells for calcium and minerals. You will not be importing toxins into your environment.
