Paralegal – Outside General Counsel Miller Law PC San Pedro, CA (In-Office Only) Full-Time | 40 hours per week Compensation: $30–$40 per hour (DOE)
Miller Law PC is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Paralegal to support our Outside General Counsel practice. In this role, you will work closely with our attorneys who serve as outside general counsel for a diverse client base, providing day-to-day legal support across both litigation and transactional matters. The majority of your work will focus on litigation tasks, including drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery, as well as comprehensive case management.
Key Responsibilities
Draft, revise, and finalize pleadings, motions, discovery requests/responses, subpoenas, declarations, and other court filings.
Manage full case lifecycle: calendaring deadlines, e-filing with California courts, tracking case status, and maintaining organized electronic and physical files.
Assist with transactional work, including contract drafting and review, due diligence, corporate formation/maintenance documents, and general corporate governance matters.
Conduct legal research and factual investigations as directed by attorneys.
Coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, vendors, and court personnel; schedule depositions, mediations, and hearings.
Prepare trial and hearing notebooks, exhibit lists, and witness files.
Track and manage statute of limitations, court deadlines, and client reporting requirements.
Support multiple matters simultaneously in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strict attention to detail and confidentiality.
Qualifications & Requirements
1–5 years of paralegal experience in a law firm (litigation experience strongly preferred).
Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Thorough working knowledge of California civil procedure, court rules, and e-filing platforms (e.g., Odyssey, LA Court Connect).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and common legal technology (case management systems, document management, and billing software).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional, client-facing demeanor.
Strong organizational and time-management abilities; ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines independently.
High ethical standards and proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
Must be able to commute to our San Pedro office daily (no remote or hybrid option).
