Bonjour! Are you looking to improve your French?
My name is Hadrien and I have been teaching French from the beginner to advanced level for over 15 years now. (see pictures attached or search "Seattle French Lessons" on Yelp for reviews)
You will find detailed information regarding private lessons and group classes below. Drop-in's welcome :)
🇫🇷 Private French Lessons
Level: Beginner through Advanced
Available times: Tuesdays at 10am Pacific | Thursdays at 9am Pacific
Duration: 50min
Software: Zoom
Description:
The private lessons include grammar, conjugation, idioms, as well as conversation practice with a special emphasis on how French natives actually talk. Interestingly enough, a lot of what we'll work on—for example the way the French constantly (and secretly) drop "e" sounds when they talk—is completely absent from textbooks (e.g. No problem = Pas de problème --> "Pad problème").
Please only inquire about private lessons if one of the times listed above works for you.
🇫🇷 French Class - Level A2 / B1 / B2
Note that if the class time conflicts with your schedule, there are sign-up options to access a video recording of the class that you can watch on your own time.
Level: Intermediate & Upper Intermediate
Time: Fridays at 9am Pacific
Duration: 1.5 hours
Software: Zoom
Drop-in Ticket: $25
Monthly Subscription: $17 per class
Description:
The weekly French class is intended for students at the intermediate or upper intermediate level who have some prior knowledge of the language. All grammar topics are on rotation and we also take a close look at how French people actually speak by analyzing dialogues from French movies and TV shows. The 90min lectures include:
French idiom of the week (with examples)
A segment on French culture (e.g. French history, music, cinema, cuisine, architecture etc.)
A segment on common French expressions and sayings that don't translate literally in English
Interactive correction of an assignment sent to all participants a few days prior
In-depth analysis of a dialogue from a French movie or TV show (noteworthy vocabulary and idioms, spoken French notes, comprehension practice)
Possibility to ask questions at any point during the class using the chat
Note that the class is mainly a lecture so I don’t put people on the spot :) Also having your webcam on is optional.

About the teacher
My name is Hadrien, I have been teaching French from the beginner to advanced level for over 15 years.
Growing up in Paris, France with an American mother has made me entirely bilingual, and having the same level of proficiency in both languages gives me a unique perspective for teaching French to English speakers.
Over the last 15 years, I have designed my own syllabus and assignments to help students with French conversation, grammar/conjugation as well as idioms, reading comprehension, oral comprehension, essays, sentences to translate, and more.
Everything we do in and out of class has a special focus on spoken French. For example, we take a close look at unofficial spoken French rules, and sometimes use French movies and TV show scripts as homework material.
I originally taught French in Seattle from 2008 to 2017 after moving there for college but I have now migrated all my students to Zoom after moving back to Paris in 2017. The transition to online classes has been a lot easier than I had expected, thanks largely to the use of Google Docs for live, collaborative lesson notes and homework.
