Private unfurnished room in gorgeous old craftsman house with gated backyard and patio in Santa Monica, Wilshire Montana neighborhood, 1 mile walk to beach, 1-2 blocks walk to lots of great restaurants, shops, and a grocery store. House is furnished aside from the available bedroom. This is an awesome house in a prime location, one of the few old craftsman homes remaining in that part of Wilshire Montana. Posted by leaseholder who aims to create a fun, companionable shared house experience with a total of 3 people.

Minimum 2 month sublease. After 2 months, it will be month to month.

House is 3 bedrooms, 1.75 bathrooms. Room is large, 14ft x 13ft, with hardwood floors. It is a corner room with windows on two sides. Lots of natural light streaming in, particularly in the morning.

Prefer housemate who works full time outside of the home rather than a fully work from home situation. Please be aware that there is no separate private office space available in the home at this time.

There are 2 bathrooms in the house, one with jetted tub/shower and the other with shower only. The smaller bathroom is basically a private bathroom, whereas the larger one I share with one of the other roommates. We do approach this with some flexibility (e.g., if you need to use a toilet, and your primary bathroom is in use, then just use the other one.) In terms of who takes the smaller, more private bathroom, we are flexible about arranging this in a way that works for everyone.

Two cats in residence. Open to a small to medium sized dog, if fully housetrained and quiet (minimal barking), and gets along well with cats.

Driveway parking spot, in the gated driveway of the house, is available for $130 per month. Permitted street parking (through city of Santa Monica, for roughly $25 per year) is also available.

Contact info - Please contact me directly. I am the leaseholder, looking for 1 person to sublet the available bedroom. Any gender is fine. You'll be sharing with 2 women. Rent is shared in a fair and equitable fashion. My goal is to create a peaceful, friendly shared house with people who like the idea of co-housing/communal living but who are also independent and active in the community.

I am a 40-something professional with a Ph.D., very into cycling, hiking, exploring night life, singing karaoke with friends, and traveling. I'm also an LA native, with friends and family locally. My housemate (middle bedroom) is an early 30's professional working in health care, originally from the midwest, very friendly, fun-loving and social, also skilled at chilling and lounging. The front (available) bedroom is large sized with windows on two sides, lots of natural light, ceiling fan, and hardwood floors. It is adjacent to the living room so if you are extremely noise sensitive, this may not be the right fit for you. We don't tend to be loud, but sometimes you may hear some low volume conversation or TV noise through the wall.

More about the house - the house has real soul and charm. Bamboo trees and nice landscaping surround the home to give it a private feeling. Fully gated front and back yard. Plenty of space on the back deck for doing yoga, chilling, or eating lunch. Propane BBQ grill on the back deck. Propane firepit with seating in the front patio/yard area. 1600 square feet. Sunlit front area with skylights, modernized kitchen, nice wood floors. There is a spacious attic for storage. Also a big driveway along the side. Walking distance (1-2 blocks) to several excellent restaurants, cafes, and bakeries, 1 block from a Vons grocery store & Rite Aid, 4 blocks from all of the boutique shops and restaurants on Montana Ave. Nice peaceful street, walking distance to beach, perfect location in Santa Monica if you want to be close to downtown SM and the beach without being right in the thick of the touristy 3rd St. promenade/pier area.

Utilities will be shared between the housemates. Roughly 90-150 per month, per person, including internet.
Housecleaner every other month, $50 per person. Open to doing this more often if all are in agreement and want that.
We share the cost for communal household supplies such as paper towels, hand soap, cleaning products. It's not strict but we just try to rotate who is purchasing each time.
No smoking.
