Experienced Embroidery Machine Operator (West Los Angeles)

compensation: $12.00 to $15.00 /hour based on experience and skill

Experienced embroidery machine operator with focus on producing quality products on multi-head and single head equipment. Must be able produce on all types of apparel, hats and fabrics. Hoop garments to be embroidered. Clean up completed embroidery. Box completed orders. Work closely with the office manager to create and follow a production schedule. Must have good time management skill, able to work independently, and be detailed oriented. Must be reliable and hard working. Expedience/basic knowledge in the embroidery production field required. 2 years Experience necessary. Punctual Part time or full time.

Job Summary:

Set up and operating Tajima embroidery machine according to written and/or verbal instructions, established company procedures, safety and quality guidelines.
Solve sewing problems and make adjustments to mechanical operation of press to keep quality, registration, color and optimum production speed.
Understanding of threads and other tools used in embroidery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

-Verify number of units received, arrange garments correctly, verify logo placement
-Correctly and efficiently hoop garments
-Thread machine with correct thread
-Set up order
-Start sewing operation and keep machines sewing when operator is on break or at lunch
-Quality control: watch closely for quality issues; and correct as necessary
-Notify supervisor of problems and/or shortages with orders

Receives production order and job assignments from supervisor. Reads order to verify quantity to be run, overrun tolerance, color sequence and garments.
Obtain garment, threads, sew disk, and related supplies needed to produce job.
Check sew-out for proper design.
Sets up press according to established company guidelines, safety and job requirements.
Hoop and prepare garments for decoration.
Secures supervisors approval of 1st shirt run before sewing job.
Sign off on production paperwork.
Sews job maintaining optimum production speed and makes machine adjustments to maintain sew quality, registration and color.
Solves sewing problems.
Completes production run including overruns and production samples.
Completes production records.
Ensures proper cleanliness of machine, work station and immediate machine area by returning unused thread to thread shelves.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience: 2 plus years of experience and/or training in embroidery; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have good judgment of color, design and quality.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.

-Physical requirement - ability to bend, twist, reach, lift materials up to 30 lbs• Good eye / hand coordination

-Good vision and the ability to detect slight differences in colors required
-Able to stand for long periods of time on concrete flooring
-Able to perform assigned tasks in environment with production floor sewing machine noise
-Able to work proficiently and efficiently while under pressure and meet strict deadlines
-Have outstanding punctuality and attendance
-Excellent attention to detail is a must
-Ability to speak, read and follow directions required
