HealthPiper is a startup founded by a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at UCLA, to make is simple, pleasant, and inexpensive to get effective medication treatment for anxiety and depression. We have been providing service to clients for almost three years, using a mobile-based system we developed. Most people with anxiety and depression forgo treatment, and an obvious but overlooked reason is that the existing world of treatment is intimidating and opaque. The majority of clients who have used our service were not in treatment when they began with us. Nearly all are relieved to have found us and delighted by our service.

Because on the Internet claims of breakthroughs are commonplace, our narrative voice is how we convey our substance. We are knowledgeable, innovative, logical, honorable, good-humored, understanding, and welcoming. To convey this requires writing that is graceful and nuanced. The writing tasks for this job will include composing descriptions of our services as well as more general elucidations of psychiatric symptoms and effective remedies. We will place content on our website as well as disseminate it through social media.

We imagine a very intelligent and educated person, frustrated and a bit disillusioned from battling to write for the Entertainment Industry, ready for more appreciation, stability, and purpose. Although the central need is for your writing, depending on your skills and interests, your role could expand into any aspect of healthPiper's operations. It is helpful if you understand healthcare well-enough to translate our concepts for a general audience; it is essential that you have passion for our mission.

Please send a cover letter and CV. Please include writing in a narrative voice that connects with an intelligent reader and that displays clear thinking and a hint of playfulness. If you prefer to compose something, you can write a sample about healthPiper, such as a paragraph description of the service, or an FAQ. There are already several applications we are considering, and we were close to taking down our ad. We decided not to, because people can make their own decisions, and we haven't chosen yet. But don't spend more than a modest amount of time on applying unless this is the job for which you have been yearning.

We have found that people who have excelled academically often do well here, so please include any germane information about your education. We would happily hire someone who doesn't have standard credentials or background but has the hunger and talent to succeed. In that case especially, however, the cover letter should convey, through your narrative voice, that you understand what is needed, yearn for the opportunity to do it, and would succeed if given the chance.

The position will start as a part-time independent contractor, and can stay that way if you would like, but can evolve into a full-time salaried position if it clicks.
